Your site is built and answers at a temporary URL. Now you want it at yourdomain.com. To connect a custom domain to your AI website you need exactly two DNS records, and you add them once. This guide shows where they come from, where they go, and what happens after you save them.
First, a quick demystification, because DNS sounds scarier than it is. A domain is a name you rent from a registrar. DNS records are small entries in your registrar account that tell browsers where that name should point. Add two records that point at your hosting, and your AI-generated site answers at your own address. That is the entire mechanism.
What you need to connect a custom domain to your AI website
- A domain at any registrar. An existing one works fine.
- A VibeBridge site that is uploaded and published. If you are not there yet, sign up and upload your HTML first (free 7-day trial).
- The login for your registrar account. You will paste the two records there yourself, following exact instructions.
- About ten minutes. The waiting afterwards happens on its own.
Step 1: Have a domain (any registrar works)
VibeBridge does not sell domains, and that is deliberate. You bring your own from any registrar, you stay the owner, and nothing locks you in. If you registered a domain years ago for a project that never happened, this is its moment.
If you still need one, pick something short that people can spell after hearing it once. Common endings cost roughly 10 to 20 euros per year. The registrar barely matters here: the two records you will add are standard DNS, and every registrar supports them.
Tip: Keep your registrar login handy before you start. The most common delay is not DNS, it is hunting for a password from 2019.
Step 2: Add the domain in the VibeBridge portal
Open your site in the VibeBridge portal and go to its domain page. Type in your domain, for example yourdomain.com. VibeBridge then shows the exact two records to create, with host and value for each, ready to copy:
- One record for www. This becomes the main address of your site, www.yourdomain.com.
- One record for the bare domain (yourdomain.com without www). It redirects visitors to the www version, so both spellings work.
Keep this page open: you copy from it next, and it confirms once everything is verified.
Step 3: Add the two DNS records at your registrar
This part happens in your registrar account, and you do it yourself. VibeBridge cannot edit DNS for you, because it has no access to your registrar. What you get instead are exact instructions: copy each record from the portal into your registrar's DNS settings, usually under a menu called DNS or DNS management.
Create the record for www, paste the value, save, then do the same for the bare domain. If an old record for either one already points somewhere else, replace it. Your email is not affected by any of this: mail runs over separate MX records, and you are not touching those.
Tip: Copy and paste the values instead of typing them. A single missing character is the number one reason a domain fails to verify, and it is invisible to the eye.
Step 4: Wait for verification, SSL comes automatically
After you save the records, VibeBridge starts checking for them. As soon as the new entries are visible, your domain is verified and an SSL certificate is provisioned automatically, so your site loads over https from the first visit. You do not request, install or renew anything.
Most domains are live within minutes. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to spread everywhere, so a slow registrar is normal and not a sign something broke. If the domain still has not verified after a day, re-check the two records for typos, or write to support@vibebridge.ai with your domain name.
That is the whole job. From then on, your AI-built site lives at your own domain, on EU hosting with a global CDN, and every update you publish appears there directly. Custom domains are included in the plans on /pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to buy my domain through VibeBridge?
No. VibeBridge does not sell domains at all. You bring your own from any registrar, you remain the owner, and you only add two DNS records in your existing account. If you do not own a domain yet, buy it wherever you prefer and come back.
Will connecting my domain break my email?
No. Email is controlled by MX records, and the two records you add for your website do not touch them. The only caution: if you replace an existing record, make sure it is a website record for www or the bare domain, never an MX record.
How long does it take to connect a custom domain to your AI website?
Adding the records takes a few minutes. After that, verification usually completes within minutes as well, but DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours depending on your registrar. SSL is provisioned automatically the moment the domain verifies.
Why is www the main address, with a redirect for the bare domain?
The www version can point at a global CDN reliably at every registrar, while bare domains have technical restrictions at many of them. So www serves your site and the bare domain redirects to it. Visitors can type either one and land on the same page.
Is SSL included, or do I pay extra for https?
SSL is included and automatic. When your domain verifies, VibeBridge provisions the certificate, serves your site over https and renews it before it expires. Nothing to buy, install or remember.
Can I move my domain away later?
Yes, at any time. The domain stays registered in your name at your registrar. To point it elsewhere, change the same two DNS records to new values. VibeBridge never holds your domain, so there is no transfer or release process.
